Rob knew early on that he wanted to sing and perform, by the age of 21 he had spent three years as front man for the Mega Men, becoming one of the most successful pub bands in Melbourne with packed houses at every show.
In 2003, Rob auditioned for Australian Idol. He found himself in the Top 12 and went on reach the Top 5, on what became the highest rating show in Australian Television history. The Top 13 went on to tour the country with packed multiple arena shows in every major Australian city.
He was signed to BMG shortly after the Idol Tour and his first single, Ms. Vanity debuted at #6 on the Australian charts, reaching Gold status. His debut album Up All Night was released in June 2004, featuring seven co-written tracks.
In 2005 Rob delighted audiences around Australian taking to the stage as ‘Johnny Casino’ in Grease – The Arena Spectacular. This production awakened Rob’s love for musical theatre. After returning home from the obligatory backpacking trip around Europe in 2006, Rob took the lead role of ‘Claude’ in the Perth production of ‘Hair’, which won rave reviews and a sold out season.
May 2007 saw Rob co-host on the up-late game show ‘The Mint’ for the Nine Network as well as special guest appearances on The Singing Bee, The Today Show, KAK, Carols By Candlelight, and was a regular reporter on Holidays For Sale. After an extensive nation‐wide search, Rob was soon cast in the hit Broadway Musical ‘Wicked’ in the role of the playboy Prince, seemingly shallow and self absorbed, the love interest for both Glinda the Good and Elphaba, the green‐skinned “Wicked” Witch.
2012 sees Rob host the show that launched the careers of Dannii Minogue, Tina Arena and Debbie Byrne, when the re-vamped Young Talent Time premieres in January.
